I’ve always been afraid of heights
Even standing on a six foot ladder
Was enough to alter my sense of self
So when the expanse of the ferris wheel
Carried me slowly up above the skyline
I imagined every nut on the machinery
Working its way free
Pinging to the pavement below
And as I rose to view the expanse of the water
The city heights gleaming back
Through the layers of bodiless terror and the
Slight dip sway of the earth
There is that singular bit of euphoric
Release
